Races of the Week and Ohio Stakes Selections

Last week, Wait a While finished third in the Flower Bowl Invitational, paying $2.90 to show. Lewis Michael finished fourth in the Goodwood Stakes. Hard Spun won the Kentucky Cup Classic, paying $3.80 to win and $2.10 to place.

This week, the Daily Racing Form's races of the week are the Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland and the Clement Hirsch Turf Campionship at Santa Anita.

In the Breeders' Futurity, my selection is Tend, who was impressive in his debut on the Polytrack at Turfway Park. Tend can come from off the pace, and should be helped by the inside post. The Form provides free past performances.

The Tin Man looks like a deserving favorite in the Hirsch. The Tin Man is 4 for 8 at the distance and 9 for 14 on the turf at Santa Anita. The last time he failed to run first or second was in 2004. The Form provides free past performances.

Tomorrow, Beulah Park hosts the Best of Ohio series of five stakes races for Ohio-breds. Beulah Park provides free past performances for all Best of Ohio nominees. Equibase provides entries.

In the John W. Galbreath Memorial, I'll bet the stretch-running Sarasponda, who could benefit from a speed duel between Title Princess and Pyrite Marci.

In the Best of Ohio Juvenile, I'll bet Perfectly Played, who also could benefit from a lot of early speed.

I'll bet Ben's Reflection in the Best of Ohio Sprint. Ben's Reflection won this race in 2005 and has been training sharply.

My selection in the Best of Ohio Distaff, Pay the Man, is coming off of an impressive 11 1/2 length victory over graded stakes winner Cryptoquip in the Rose DeBartolo Memorial Handicap.

In the Best of Ohio Endurance, I'll bet that Pyrite Personal can turn the tables on Catlaunch, who defeated him in last month's Governor's Buckeye Cup.
